Skyla Schreter Dance

“Love is an Action” [2.0]

A multi-disciplinary dance series exploring creative exchange in real-time. For its second installment, Skyla Schreter Dance will collaborate live, in performance, with Beacon-based musicians Joshua Geisler and Inana Lurose using cross-disciplinary improvisation to illustrate the ephemeral healing magic of collective creativity.

Led by Beacon-based choreographer Skyla Schreter, Skyla Schreter Dance is a grassroots collective of movers and artists creating socially relevant and emotionally resonant art in NYC and the Hudson Valley. Skyla Schreter is a 2024 recipient of the Individual Artist Award for a Choreography from the New York State Council on the Arts and the 2024 New York State Danceforce Choreographer’s Initiative Award. Schreter is on faculty at Vassar College and a co-founder of LotusWorks Wellness, Beacon’s first cannabis dispensary and art gallery. skylaschreterdance.com @skylaschreter.dance

Anima ArcanA is the musical meeting of Inana Lu Rose and Josh Geisler in a style coined “ancient futuristic minimalism”. Josh plays bansuri and Native American flutes, string instruments, keys, and electronics. He spent 9 years honing his craft while touring as the bandleader with Cirque du Soleil’s “TOTEM.” Inana Lu Rose, formerly known as Uyanga Bold, is a singer incorporating “open throat singing” of Mongolian urtiin duu and Balkan female folk singers, alongside operatic bel canto, Hindustani classical, and shamanic throat singing.
